SOME INFORMATION ON THE R44 Raven Helicopter

R44 Raven

The Robinson R44 helicopter is a small, light, four-seat, piston-driven civilian helicopter produced by the Robinson Helicopter Company since 1992. See the official site of the R44.

Although it resembles the earlier Robinson R22, the R44 is larger and faster than its predecessor. It features boosted flight controls, a feature not found on the R-22. The R44 Raven helicopter  has hydraulically assisted cyclic and collective controls.

Tail rotor direction of rotation on the R44 is reversed compared to the R22 for improved yaw control authority. On the R44 the advancing blade is on the bottom.  More information on the R44 can be find on Wikipedia, the free encyclopaedia.

Affordable luxury defines the Raven I. Standard features include a precision-engineered RPM governor, a durable rotor brake, an auxiliary fuel system for added versatility and longer range, a powerful heater/defogger, and hydraulic power controls that completely eliminate stick shake and control forces for a smooth, relaxing ride.

The Raven I's distinctive aerodynamic design allows a high cruise speed up to 130 mph and an average fuel consumption of only 12 to 16 gallons per hour. The dependable Lycoming O-540 engine is down-rated from 260 to 225 HP (225 HP take-off) for long life and unmatched reliability. The cabin offers comfortable "two plus two" seating with removable dual controls and no bulkhead or post between the front and rear seats, assuring exceptional visibility and panoramic views for all passengers.

Robinson's engineering emphasis on quality, reliability, and performance has made the R44 Raven the world's top-selling helicopter. It has fewer accidents due to aircraft or engine failure than other light helicopters, and best of all, the Raven has the lowest cost per seat-mile of any helicopter anywhere.
